The frictionone chain short
The door home does not open where you need it
Withdrawing on Sunrise burns the SPL token and delivers wTAO on
Bittensor EVM, where this wrapper was issued from: a wrapped ERC-20 you still
have to unwrap, at an H160 address rather than the SS58 coldkey that subnet
staking runs on. A plain wallet transfer cannot reach an SS58 address. The last hop is btcli evm send-to-ss58 through the balance-transfer
precompile, or a deposit to your coldkey's EVM mirror that you then claim. It is a terminal,
not a wallet click, and nothing on the Solana side tells you it is coming.
Two structural details before you size a position. The token is a LayerZero
OFT carrying 6 shared decimals against the mint's 9, so every cross-chain amount is
rounded down to 0.000001 TAO and the remainder does not travel. And the OFT store names a
single admin key, with a fee parameter and a pause flag in the same account
— read on 20 Sep 2026, the fee is 0 and transfers are not paused. That is not an accusation.
It is a structure, and it sits between you and your TAO.
Route and origin chain from Sunrise's listed assets
— TAO, Bittensor EVM, LayerZero, listed 5 May 2026 — and withdrawal timing, rate limits and
queuing from its withdraw guide.
The OFT store 8vJKzz…jZdDg, its LayerZero V2 endpoint 76y77p…gjEn6,
the 6 shared decimals and the unpaused zero-fee state were read from the mint account on
20 Sep 2026. The last hop is Bittensor's own
EVM money-flow guide.
The path that isn't thisno wrapper
You can skip the wrapper entirely
Allways — Bittensor subnet 7,
settled on Solana — swaps native assets with no wrapped token anywhere in the path: miners
post collateral, validators verify both legs on-chain, the contract slashes on failure. Its
repository lists SOL and TAO as hubs with SOL ↔ TAO among the
live pairs, which is the thing the wrapper cannot do: SOL in your wallet becomes native TAO
in your Bittensor wallet. It is beta software and says so plainly.
If you land on Bittensor EVM anyway, you can stake from there without going further. The V2
staking precompile takes a netuid, and addStakeLimit carries a
limit price and a partial-fill flag, so you are not staking blind into a moving alpha pool.
addStake(bytes32 hotkey, uint256 amount, uint256 netuid)
addStakeLimit(bytes32 hotkey, uint256 amount,
uint256 limit_price, bool allow_partial, uint256 netuid)

Allways is live before you rely on it.
And know that Bittensor EVM is close to empty: about $27K of DeFi across
one DEX against $495M on the base chain (DefiLlama, 20 Sep 2026).
